Overflow valve on tankless Rheem was leaking & replaced with valve that has sensor from home depot. It is still leaking. Is there a specific overflow valve that I need to use on my tankless system?

The valves are the same specs. Is it possible that a new valve leaks, yew. However if both valve leak then there are other problems. Does the valve only leak when hot water is called for? Then check temperature setting on heater. Does it lek all the time? The water pressure is to high ,

Old plumbing, and clogs can gather at elbows.
Plumbing repairs, faulty check valves etc can cause clogs.
Pressure gauge on water line can reveal if pressure drop is before or after the tankless unit.

Installed a tankless gas hot water heater a few months ago, and ever since then when ever I turn on the hotwater, I get pockets of air coming out of the faucet. There are no leaks in the water lines, but...

1) Never, ever install tankless water heater, unless your wallet is 2" thick and you enjoy nuisance problems and recommended continual maintenance.
2) Add in-line air vent.
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Air-vent-added-to-return-22.jpg
3) Look for check valve along the line. Look for mixing valve, pressure regulating valve, etc.
4) If you have recirculation system, remove cross-over check valve and see if problem is located there.
5) Contact Rheem. 800-432-8373 They will want model number, serial number, and name of installer. And might recommend contacting installer or plumber.
6) Increase water flow. Check water flow requirement of tankless (.5 gallons per minute activation) with actual flow at faucet.
7) Clean water filter at tankless unit.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Tankless-maintenance.pdf
8) Crossover at single-handled faucet.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Crossover.html
9) Fix all leaking faucets indoor and outdoor so no air is being sucked in.
10) Bad TP valve on water heater sucking in air each time water pressure pulls on the valve?

High water pressure might be causing problem.
Use Brady BTG-100 pressure gauge to check pressure on nearby spigot.
Add a pressure reducing valve on incoming water line.

Water heaters, tankless and tank-type are damaged by high water pressure 80 psi.
House plumbing fixtures also have shortened lifespan.

However if water pressure or water flow are too low, then burner will not activate.

List of causes MIGHT include one of following:
Bad household circuit breaker that powers electronics, or loose wire inside outlet where tankless plugs in.
Tankless fuses and control board.
Water flow rate too low. Minimum .8 gallon required (depending on model)
Tankless inlet filter clogged.
Household aerators clogged at faucets.
Crossover at single-handled faucet
If installed, there can be crossover at mixing valve.
Faulty household check valve, including check valve on re-circulation system if that system is installed.
Restriction in household water line, such as clog at elbow.
Unequal pressure in household hot and cold lines, caused by restriction in hot line. When single-handled faucet turns on, the cold water pressure is higher so hot does not flow and tankless will not turn on.
Loose wire connection inside tankless.
Unit temperature set too high.
Unit temperature set too low.
Water temperature is very hot coming out of tap, so more cold is added, but that reduces amount of hot water flow, so tankless turns off because flow rate is too low.
On some tankless, if water is preheated by solar or other indirect source, the burner will not activate.
High mineral content in water > delime tankless yearly
Misaligned temperature sensor
Low gas pressure. Wrong type of gas. Undersized gas line.
Too many faucets on at same time.
Faulty tankless water valve. Water valve stuck.
Fluctuating household water pressure, for example MUD and PUD district water pressure problems or water well pressure.
Faulty household pressure reducing/regulating valve if installed.
Faulty household pressure tank, if installed -or- pressure tank needs to be installed.

Problems can range from sediment in tank, to clog in plumbing elbow, to degraded joint where copper and galvanized pipe meet, to crossover in single-handle faucet, to leak in water line, to leak in TP valve, to bad check valve, to defective re-circulation pump system.

Constant water leak from the valve that came in the MAREY water heater

That is the temperature pressure relive valve (TPV) . It is either foiled with some thing or going off because of a pressure or temperature problem. If it is leaking continuously it is foiled and needs cleaning. If I where there I would replace it with new.

Tp valve opening and dumping water

Certain water heaters can only handle so much pressure from the main line. There is a pressure controller between your water meter and you house, it's called a pressure regulator. You need to call a plumber to check and see if it needs to be adjusted or even replaced.
