Can the stand be removed from the 27" imac

There is no clear answer online, but it does not look like you can. Apple has the option to purchase an iMac with a VESA mount, but it is a build to order option.

I would recommend a call to Apple 800-692-7753. Have your serial number handy, it will help them find the specs for your iMac.

How do you remove the stand from a Apple imac

It can get tricky. If you post the year your Mac was made, I can follow up with some instructions.

Check out iFixit as well -- they have a lot of walkthroughs.

Hope this helps!

How to change/replace super drive in imac

There's a great tutorial on accessing and replacing the dvd drive here http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iMac+Intel+21.5-Inch+EMC+2428+Optical+Drive+Replacement/5961

Be sure you have large enough suction cups to get a decent amount of surface when pulling the screen out as it can break.

HL-DT-ST DVDRW GA11N problem

With your Superdrive being dead out of the box, there is no need to be burdened with it.

Whenever you purchase an Apple Desktop or portable notebook, it automatically comes with 90 days phone support and 1 year of hardware support. So you can simply contact Applecare Support at 800-275-2273 (make sure you have your iMac serial# ready) to get that drive replaced under warranty of course.

But it may be even easier to take the iMac back in from where you purchased it and get that drive replaced or get a new iMac 21" from the store you purchased it from, unless it was via an online seller like apple.com direct, or any other Apple-authorized reseller online.

Considering your model is so new, I would recommend that course of action. Now if you are getting some functionality from that drive, then let me know and I will provide some troubleshooting procedures for you.

Imac-samson-gtrack mic compatability

From the Samson Audio website...

"Ideal for the traveling musician or the project studio, the G-Track ships with a desktop mic stand, swivel stand mount, USB cable and all the cables needed to connect any musical instrument with a standard 1/4" or RCA output. The G-Track ships with Cakewalk's Sonar LE and works brilliantly with Apple's GarageBand."

If it states that it works with GarageBand, I would say that it would work on a mac.
