Pregnancy tests contain chemicals that interact with the HCG chemical that they are testing for. If the pregnancy test is out of date, it might affect the accuracy of the results. You should dispose of it and buy a new one.

Does anyone have any ideas why my guinea pig died? She was pregnant and seemed healthy but went past her due date without giving birth.?

How old was she? Going past her due date by a week may not have been the cause (I had a female that delivered two weeks late!), but without a veterinarian doing a post-mortem exam, there's really no way to know. Guinea pigs are very good at hiding health problems until they are critical, so there's a possibility she could have developed ketosis without showing it.

Does it matter what time of day I take my pregnancy test?

It\'s best to use the
first urine of the morning to take a pregnancy test with as it\'s the most
concentrated and HCG levels will be higher but it\'s also ok to do it at other
times of the day.

Are there different types of pregnancy tests?

Yes there are two
different types of pregnancy tests. One is a blood test for the hormone HCG
which you would have to do through your doctor. The other is a urine test which
also detects HCG and can be done through your doctor or using a home pregnancy
kit.

How do I read the result of my pregnancy test? I am getting so stressed about it that I just cant understand the instructions.

Not all pregnancy tests are the same but there are usually two ways of getting a positive result:

1) Some tests just show a clear vertical line in the control window and if you are pregnant you will also get a clear vertical line in the result window.

2) Some tests show a vertical line in the control window and a "-" sign in the result window if you are not pregnant and a "+" sign in the result window if you are.

All pregnancy tests come with instructions and usually they have pictures explaining the results. You can probably hold your pregnancy test alongside the leaflet if you are confused and it should clarify the result for you.

Is it worth buying a home pregnancy test? How do they work?

Home pregnancy tests are actually quite reliable. They work by detecting
the hormone HCG which is found in both urine and blood. If you have a lab blood
test, it will probably detect pregnancy earlier than a home urine test.

I have very tight pain across my lower abdimon. I have also not had mt perriod for 2 months. I have done 2 pregnancy tests and they have come back negative. Could there be other issues.

For some women home pregnancy test kits do not work. It would be best to visit a doctor and have a blood hCG, pregnancy, test done. There is a danger of ectopic, outside the womb, pregnancy which could cause the pain. It could be something as simple as an infection that's causing your problem but you need to visit a doctor and get it sorted out.
