I know this is late, but my camera had the same problem.
1. If you go in the setup menu.
2. Push the right button once and scroll down to the menu that says format.
3. It will ask you if you want to erase all data.
4. Select No and everything should be fine.

do you have a memory card reader so you can take it out of the camera and try to format it on the computer?

  • Anonymous Feb 20, 2009

yes you can. try doing that and then put it back in the camera

  • Anonymous Feb 20, 2009

is this a new memory card? what size is it?

  • Anonymous Feb 20, 2009

you probably have to try and format it when its back in the camera

  • Anonymous Feb 21, 2009

it could have gone bad. i had a flash drive that wouldnt format on anything and i thought it was no good then i downloaded a hard disk low level format utility and it formatted it no problem and it worked fine after that. heres a link. its down the page a little.

    http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/2...

just make sure if you try to do that you choose the memory card and not your computer hard drive. mine says memory card adapter and the size on the right is 2000mbytes. my hard drive says gbytes. yours will probably say close to the same thing.

There is a setting in one of the menus of the camera where you can change the place where pictures are stored. Make sure it is set to memory card and NOT internal memory.

How to Recover Pictures From Fujifilm FinePix S700 Storage Media

With 7 mega pixel camera, 10x optical zoom, 2.5 LCD, picture stabilization mode, and i-Flash intelligent Flash, the Fujifilm FinePix S700 fulfills all the requirements of any photographer. The storage media (SD and xD memory cards) used in this camera allows the photographer to save audios, videos, and photos of different sizes. Damage in storage media can occur any time, resulting in fatal consequences, like inaccessibility of data saved in the memory card. In most cases, the photographer encounters an error message stating that the card is corrupted. To overcome such corruption scenarios, the photographer needs to restore the data from an updated backup. But all photographers do not create a backup on regular basis. For them, a third-party Camera recovery software acts as a boon and helps them recover the data.
As a real-world instance, you encounter the below error message while trying to view the pictures saved in your SD card (inserted in Fujifilm FinePix S700):
"CARD ERROR"
After the above error message pops up, the data saved in the SD card becomes inaccessible.
Cause:
Few main causes for the above error message are:
1.Incorrect SD card format.
2.Incompatible SD card.
3.Memory card corruption due to unexpected camera shutdown, virus infection, and interrupted read or write operation.
Resolution:
To resolve the above error message and to access the data saved in SD card, you will need to:
1.Use a compatible SD card.
2.In case of memory card corruption, format the card in Fujifilm FinePix S700 camera. Though formatting brings the card in reusable state, all the audio, video, and picture files get deleted. To recover the deleted data, you will need to choose a powerful Camera recovery software.
Such recovery tools use effective scanning methods to ensure complete Camera data recovery. These tools can be downloaded from the Internet and used by anybody. Such applications are safe as they harm the original data saved in the memory card.
Digital camera recovery software is a world-renowned Photo Recovery utility used for recovering data from almost every type of memory card. This software ensures complete recovery of digital files, irrespective of their size or type. Compatible with Windows and Mac OS X, the read only software also recovers data from other storage media, like Zip drives, hard drives, etc.

Why am I getting a "memory full" error when my memory card is not full?

Try formatting the card with the camera menu. This is always safer when you buy a new card. If that doesn't work take the card back

"memory full" but SD cards are empty

Not sure if it will be this, but has the SD card got locked by accident? There is a little sliding button on the side of the card, which can be locked to protect the content. My camera shows the card as full if I accidentally lock the card. You can just slide it back again to unlock it. I never noticed the button was there until I accidentally knocked it while loading the card in and out of my PC to transfer the photos.

Fuji finepix s700 camera error message protected card. After making sure sd card in unlocked. I still get this message. I had trouble getting out a sd card,i feel a piece of the sd card broke in the...

Take a small flash light and see if there is a part of a memory card in there, if there is cleaning it out would solve the problem. Also make sure you're putting the memory card in the right way. I've you've done that and it's still giving you problems try going into the menu's and formatting the memory card in the camera.

Will sdhc card work in my fuji s700 camera

The SDHC memory card is a newer version of the SD card and will fit in the memory card slot. However the maximum memory capacity your camera is capable of is 2gig, beyond this the card may not work. You may be able to extend this capacity with a firmware update from the Fuji site.
The SDHC memory card has a lock the same as your SD card here is a diagram to make sure the lock is in the correct position for use. Remember also to format the new card and format after each download of pictures to the computer.

Says memory card is full but it is empty. Internal memory is working fine.

Hi there,

Please try to format your memory using you camera. If problem is still there, then reformat your memory card at PC.

I hope either will work.

Memory Full Error

You need to format the SD memory card using the camera format function. The manual should tell you how to do this. If you don't have the manual, you can download it from the samsung website.
