Good afternoon. Open the pps file and right click on the picture. You will have an option to save as picture. Once selected, name the file and the file location. Also you will have an option to save as a jpp file.

I would prefer guide below or another methods are proposed from different sources over Internet, but in case the guide from MS Corporation can't handle the problem
In the File name: box, enter the text in bold to display a list of the automatically saved files (if any). You can also copy and paste this text into the File name: box.
PowerPoint 2007: %temp%\ppt*.tmp
Click the Open button.
Click the name of the file that you want to recover, and then click Open.
Note : The automatically saved files may not be named in a descriptive way. Continue to open files until you find the one you are looking for.
After you find the file, click Save. Then save the file to your My Documents or other location.

Ill ask the obvious first, do you have Microsoft Powerpoint installed? If you dont, you can download a free PPS viewer. Just Google "PPS Viewer" , download and install it.
If you do have PowerPoint, then try saving the pps file to your computer locally and try opening it?
Please always post your questions with as much details as you can. What email client are you using? Gmail, Yahoo, Thunderbird, Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, etc. Its hard to answer questions with hardly any info. Thanks!
First of all, you don't have to reinstall Powerpoint. Just right click on a .pps file, select 'Open with' > 'Choose Porgram' select Powepoint, and then check in the checkbox which says: "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file", and click OK. It makes Powerpoint the default program to open your .pps files.
And to answer your question: in theory you won't loose any data by reinstall, but it's always a good idea to make a backup of the data files before such an action.

Right click the file, select properties. On the general tab, click Change (next to Open With). Hit the browse button and navigate to your PowerPoint installation and that should fix it. :)
Try Picassa. All you need to do is to make some basic correction. very very minimum that you dont even know that there is a change. save the photo back into a different location. You will see a change in the pic size.
Alternatively, google for Digital Photo Resizer. I used a trial version for sometime and it helped.
