There are very few GoGear's that are Mac-compatible. The HDD1830 is definitely not Mac-compatible.

My gogear does not recognize by my computer what should i do

What should I do if my player is not recognized by my PC?

Reset it. Use a pen tip in the RESET hole on the side of the player.
Connect the player to the PC to see whether the player is recognized.

Faulty USB port, try connecting the player to another USB port (or try another computer).

Is your computer Mac or Windows? eg Mac OS 10.7.2 had issues recognising media players that could be fixed by resetting PRAM.

Install Philips Songbird software and try Repair mode. Note this will delete files on the player.

I have a philips go gear and when I plug into my usb it says do not disconnect.. Then it says o.k to disconnect but the windows media player never recognizes it as a device.. What can I do?

have you installed the proper drivers?
when in the windows explorere menu the go gear can be found, you can handle it like a hard ddisk an d copy the mp3's manually onto it.
if recognized as player, try to open any mp3 on it using winMP or get vlc-player or winamp(for free!)
instead.
if player is not properly recognized by win,
there is no proper data management available, too.
good luck

Installation for philips gogear using apple macintosh

Can't. But, you can simply plug in the gogear into a mac USB port and manually drag music into the MUSIC folder. Files must go into that folder for player to recognize them.

Other than that, software only available for PC.

I just purchased the philips go gear 4gb and i can not download video to the device thru the media converter given. It requires an smv file and i need help how to convert my videos i have downloaded to an...

You have to install the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter that came with the installation CD - if you have lost the CD, you can actually get the new, upgraded Media Converter from www.usasupport.philips.com. The Media Converter can't handle full-length movies - it is more for shorter, You-Tube style videos. If the Media Converter doesn't recognize your videos, first get a free FLV codec online. If it still does not recognize the videos, download Riva FLV Encoder and convert any non-recognized video to AVI format. Then the Philips Media Converter will recognize the video, and you can run it through the converter. The Philips website also has a link to the full user guide which explains some of this, if you have lost the user manual.
