Whirlpool dishwasher is not fully drying dishes

You can't turn the heat up, just on or off. Are you using heated dry?? It sounds like the vent system in the door is either not working or blocked. Some dishwashers have a small trap door flap in the dishwasher door that is closed during wash and opens to vent steam during the dry cycle. Sounds like it is staying closed. If you have a higher end dishwasher, they usually have a fan motor that come on during dry that gets rid of steam and moisture. Just a few things to check.

2. If the dishwasher has the options, turn on high-temperature wash and sani-rinse. This gets the dishes hotter for better evaporation.
It is possible that the heater may not be working at all, and that will cause poor washing performance and no drying. This is very rare in dishwashers less than 3 years old. Most likely, poor drying in a new dishwasher is caused because you are not using rinse-aid.

You could simply open the door at the end of the cycle and let the air do the job. If your dishwasher is controlled by a manual dial, you could open the door, move the timer past the wash cycles stopping on the dry cycle and close the door to start another dry cycle. This option is expensive, by the way.

Check the rinse aid indicator beside the rinse aid dispenser cap. If the indicator window is clear, refill the dispenser. The dishwasher will retain moisture and the heat dry option will not perform properly without rinse aid. Turn the dispenser cap clockwise and lift it up to remove it. Pour rinse aid into the dispenser until the indicator appears full. Place the dispenser cap over the dispenser and turn it counterclockwise to tighten it.

Load the dishes properly so that all dishes can drain after the rinse cycle. Do not overload the dishwasher. Towel-dry plastic dishes because they will not dry completely during the dry cycle.

Select the heated dry option on the dishwasher. The air-dry and energy-saving dry options will not perform as well as the heated dry.

This is a very slow process which continues to dry even after the unit has run all of its cycles. Usually over night they should be dry but any puddling water left on the dishes such as an over turned mug or cup will still be left on the dishes. The drying is done in this way to prevent damage to delicate glassware or melting plastic items in the unit. There is no dishwasher available that can fully dry the dishes due to the possibility of damaging your dishes.

You need only enough space so the door does not rub when opened. If the unit is too far back under the cabinet the countertop (if wood) can be damaged by the exhausting moisture. The dry feature on the newer models is just as you describe. The moisture from the hotter dishes evaporates and is condensed on the cooler walls and door of the wash tub. Dry dishes wet tub is normal.

The LG LDFx810 dishwasher energy saving series uses a condensing system mounted in the door and does not turn on the heating element during the drying cycle. Rather it heats the final rinse water and then runs the condensing fan system to remove the moist air. Energy saving dishwashers will never dry as completely as the energy hogs of 10 years ago - especially the plastic items.

Also, confirm that the rinse aid is full. This will help with drying considerably.

this dw to save energy works this way- the final rinse will reach a temp of 161 F . the dishes have to absorb this heat. when the cycle is complete the dishes become a heater in themselves radiating the heat they absorbed during the final 161 F heat. If you have any tupperware or plastic dishes in the unit they will not absorb heat therefore not radiate the 161 f temp need to dry all the dishes. try to avoid plastic items and they must always have jet dry. this is the european way of conserving energy. on the old ge or whirlpool they had electric element in the bottom that would bake the dishes dry ....not these..but they do save alot of energy.. it helps right after a cycle to crack the door open release all the steam from the unit
