Bluetooth Device: iogear GBU521W6 Installed Driver Version: 6.5.1.2700 (from Device Manager) Was using a D-Link DBT-122 successfully for 2 years on this laptop before the problem first appeared. Could not get it to work (was told Windows 7 drivers are not available for this device) so bought and installed an iogear GBU521W6. Cannot detect ANY peripheral devices to connect to my laptop. The "Allow Devices to Connect" box is checked in the Bluetooth Settings but the "Allow a Device to Connect" item in the right-click Bluetooth icon menu is greyed out. Have downloaded and run the "SetupBtwDownloadSE.exe" file from the Broadcom site but it did not fix the problem. Peripheral device (Windows Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 6000) connects fine to my tablet.
Did you make laptop discoverable ? in windows or is you connection set to home group or public ?
Thanks for the reply Joe. I have tried it both ways (although the laptop does not have to be in discovery mode, only the remote device I am trying to add). My wireless network is set as a Home cooncetion, with all sharing options turned on (although my wireless setting should not affect my Bluetooth connections).

Just install Laptop updater software as this problem seems to like that you are using the lower version of bluetooth driver. just go through the below link and download the updater. and after that connect the laptop to internet it will automatically installed all drivers.

WHAT IS THE MODEL & SERVICE TAG FOR YOUR DELL ?
ONCE YOU have that information, go to www.dell.com and plug in the service tag #, i assume the bluetooth device you have came from Dell, if not you have to to the manufacturer site for that bluetooth device

Try to search for the correct acer bluetooth peripheral device driver from driversdownloadhub.com. There's a free driver search tool you can use as well as a list of manufacturers to get the one compatible to your OS.
