Okay, do you have it through a HDMI or AV cable?
Whoever used it before you have the settings on either HDMI or AV, which means if you are using the other one, the video will not come up
Its a bit hard to explain but you should hook up both HDMI and AV and find out which one it is coming through, then change the setting to whichever one you want

Can't get Playstation3 sound through the STR-DG800 using HMDI.
Do you have your ps3 connected to the TV with HDMI and then audo cables from the TV to the receiver? If so, you need to make sure you change the audio settings on your TV to surround sound.

when the ps3 is in standby mode with just hte red light on. hold it down til it beeps takes about 5 to 10 seconds and it will bring it back to AV mode so u should be able to get picture and sound.
