Our mccullock 610 pro mac chainsaw's brake won't desingage. How to fix? It makes noise like it wants to start but won't.

won't on a petrol driven unit
the chain will run if the engine idle is too high as is driven by a centrifugal clutch
the brake stops the drive by a brake action and will burn out if engaged with the engine at high rpm

Fly wheel gap echo 610 chainsaw

Yes indeed, you need a gap between the flywheel and the magneto! What about that gap? It appears that your post is not even a question, but a sentence fragment!

Need spark plug gap

I've never heard of the saw but it is probably a McCullock derivative. Try either 0.5mm or 30 thou (of an inch). It won't be far out and should get you out of trouble.

The engine in my My McCullock Promac 610 has suddenly become impossible to turn over using the starter cord although it turns over easily with the spark plug removed.

Keep in mind... Gasses compress, liquids do not. Remove the spark plug. Hold the saw so the spark plug hole is the lowest part of the engine... and pointed away from you. Pull the starter cord rapidly until all fluids are purged from the crankcase. If it happens again... rebuild or replace the carb. Good Luck !!

My Mculloch 610 wont start when hot

When it won't start, remove the spark plug and test for spark--it should be blue and snappy. If weak or nothing, try a new plug. If still nothing, the ignition module may be failing from engine heat. Before replacing same, check the module gap to the flywheel magnets with a thin business card. If it seems excessive, insert the card into the gap, loosen the mounting screws and allow the module poles to contact the magnets, then re-tighten the screws. Rotate the wheel to remove the gauge, then rotate it one full turn to make sure the gap doesn't close up. Recheck for spark. If the module dies from the heat, replace it. Hope this helps!
