How to reset HP 1320N to factory default - HP LaserJet 1320 Printer

  • Anonymous May 18, 2009

That doesn't work. Pressing the "Go"-Button in the power-on-process doesn't reset the printer.

  • Rigoberto Vazquez Jul 02, 2019

While pressing the Reset button on the back of the printer, turn on the printer. Continue to press the Reset button until the printer is in the Ready state (from 5 to 30 seconds).

For me worked this:

- Turn off the printer

- Turn on the printer

- Push and mantain pushed the button on the back of the printer (near to USB connector) for 30 seconds.

- Release the button

- With 1 to 3 minutes for DHCP Server (if you have one)

The printer now have a default configuration, if you have a DHCP server your printer now have a IP Address of your DHCP Server's IP pool.

- Print a coniguration page holding down the green button until the attention LED is blinking

- Release it, 3 pages will be printed.

It is done

Turn off your printer, hold the reset button that should be at the back of your printer, turn the printer on again while holding the button, wait until the printer turns in "ready" state.
Hope this works

Factory default what?
Do you need to restore the system to what it was like when you bought it? If so, you will have to boot from the system restore disks which you had to make when you bought it.
Assuming that the computer is working and you didn't make the disks, there is an item in the Program list that will let you make a restore CD or DVD.
If your computer is not working and you don't have disks, you will need order them from HP.

Density Adjustment in HP Laserjet 1320

Firstly I doubt that economode is set by default, but maybe the printer is in
economode for some reason.
Secondly I would normally expect the problem to be the toner cartridge but
assuming you have checked this my suggestions are as follows.
1. Run two internal prints from the printer.
a. By pressing the green "go" button briefly.
b. By holding the green "go" button for 5 seconds.
The first print should give you an indication of the print quality, if it
is good then the printer itself is probably behaving normally.
The second print will tell you exactly how the printer is set up. This
includes whether economode is on or off and what print density it is set for
(default is 3, range is 1-5).
2. If economode is on or the print density is lower than 3 the easiest way to
fix this is to do a cold reset on the printer as follows.
Important note: This will reset the printer to factory defaults, the only
setting that is critical is the jetdirect setting. Since you stated that your
printer is a 1320 and that you are running DOS I am assuming that it does not
have an "n" (for network) suffix eg 1320n. If I am right in this assumption you
can ignore the jetdirect comments above, if it is a network printer the second
printout from 1a should provide the jetdirect information which you may need to
keep for future reference.
Cold Reset Procedure:-
a. Turn the printer power off
b. Press and "hold" the green "go" button whilst turning the printer on.
c. Continue to hold the go button for at least 5 seconds and until the amber
attention light turns on (triangle with ! in the middle), this should occur
before 15 seconds elapses.
d. Release the go button.
Factory defaults should now be reset and you can check using 1a whether any
changes occurred.

HP Laserjet 1320n Admin Password has been forgotten. Need to change the IP address, but cannot access the system. Any suggestions?

    joed_calcule

If you changed the password from the default one but forgot the one you set it too all you really can do at this point is set the printer back to the factory defaults. The menu options below will help you do this.

    Advanced Printer Settings

    Settings tab

Resets = Change all the printer settings back to the factory default settings.

    HP Laser Jet 1320n series

The HP LaserJet 1320 has a USB port and a Parallel port.

The HP LaserJet 1320n has a USB port and an Ethernet port.

USB-to-Parallel converter cables, like this one, are designed to attach a parallel device to a computer's USB port.

But you need to do the opposite (attach a USB device to a computer's parallel port). A USB-to-Parallel converter cable will not do this.
