Door slammed and no microwave is dead

I have a 2001 year "Expert" (distributed by LG)microwave model number exv1511w. Tonight the door was slammed by my daughter and the whole unit went blank. Circuit breaker is fine, as is the outlet. Could this be the internal 10 amp fuse? How easy is this to replace, and is this a common fuse that I can get a hardware store?

Yep you got it in one, I must have advised about 10 people today about this. when the door is slammed the door protection circuit does not operate correctly and then takes out the mains fuse inside the unit. renove the case and locate the fuse, normally where the cable enters the unit. as long as the fuse is the correct amperage, lenght and diameter you have no problems. do not test the unit with the cover off and be careful as the capacitors can hold a lethal charge

How to remove door COVER from door of LG Microwave model LMHM2017ST

Here are the steps to remove the door cover from the door of your LG Microwave model LMHM2017ST:
  1. Unplug the microwave from the power source.
  2. Open the microwave door and locate the four screws on the inner edge of the door.
  3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws.
  4. Carefully separate the outer door panel from the inner door panel.
  5. You will now see the door cover attached to the outer door panel.
  6. Use a flathead screwdriver or plastic pry tool to gently pry the door cover off of the outer door panel. Start at one corner and work your way around the edge.
  7. Once the door cover is removed, you can replace it with the brushed silver cover from the new door.
  8. To reassemble the door, simply snap the new cover onto the outer door panel and then reattach the outer door panel to the inner door panel using the four screws you removed earlier.
Make sure to be careful when removing the door cover, as it can be fragile and may break if handled roughly.

LG Microwave won't turn off

Our LG did the same thing - called customer service and they told us the open and slam the door 10 times. It actually worked! It reset the switches somehow.

721.64682300

Your model number prefix of 721 means it's made by LG / Goldstar.

F9 code on an LG means either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

This can be caused by slamming the door or by habitually opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

You can probably find exploded views and order parts by entering your model number here at the Sears parts site.

NEED TO REPLACE THE WHITE PLASTIC CATCH ON NEXT TO THE CONTROL PANEL AS IT SNAPPED OFF AS MY SON SLAMMED THE DOOR

By the nature of the oven main face plate and the locking latch being attached to the safety system the replacement cost is usually higher than a replacement microwave oven.

In your case replacing the microwave with another one is more sensible. Your oven is an obscure model as it is, I'd suggest a sharp brand.
