The Orange Light will light up on the flash.

You are going to need a new battery if it's older than 6 years old.

SOURCE: Metz mecablitz 45 ct 1 and Nikon D-90

The trigger voltage of the 45CL-1 is about 12V, so it should be safe to connect directly to the hot shoe with an adaptor, or to the pc soclet, if the D90 has one. If the D90 is anything like my Canon 40D, which can stand about 30V on the hot shoe, then all the 45CL series will be ok, as they have trigger voltages between 9V and 12V. The 45CT-5 has a trigger voltage of 15V and works well on the 40D. I use 3 different Metz 45 models with my 40D and all work well on automatic, where the flash sensor itself controls the light output.

Massimo,

Yes, the 60CT-4 works with the Pocketwizards.
Yes, they will work by connecting the Metz's cable into the PC of your camera.

To get longer life out of the flash tube, don't use full manual all the time. Like shooting more than 300 in less than 15 mins/day.
Just dail those number down.

SOURCE: mating Metz 60CT4 to Nikon D80 camera

The 60CT-4 was not made for digital cameras.
It does TTL on film not on CMOS or CCD sensor.

Ttl connection to a metz 60ct4 or 45 ct-5

You have to use a special cable adapter for each type of camera.
These old flash units do not have adapters for current digital cameras. For old cameras the only place to get the adapters, is on ebay or from KEH.

Metz 60 CT4

The Metz 60CT-4 uses Accu 60-38 4.5Ah @6V Pb battery.
Charging system is difference from NiMH battery.

Beside the voltage is only 1.2VDC per cell on NiMH battery.
Four cells will have a total of 4.8VDC.
If you got five (5) cells: 1.2 X 5 = 6.0VDC. Do not charge these cells with Metz. Use NiMH Charger for NiMH battery.

Metz 6ct4 flash head

Are you still having problem with the flash not flashing? Use a DVM (digital volt meter) to measure the battery from the pack. Take the 6 volt battery out from the pack and measure it. A reading of 6vdc or greater is good. Also the for amp. of the battery. Alexander [email protected]
