Push Button - Have to Hold Down Button

I have two dual flush toilets - a Kohler and the Aquia II. On the Kohler, I push the button and away it goes. On the Toto, I have to depress the button and hold it down for a second or two for it to flush. Is that normal for the toilet, or do I have a defect?

TIA!

Not much of a feature, if you hold it down for too long it emptys the while tank

I had the same problem. The fix cost me 50 cents (literally). I just placed a quarter on top of the Blue and White flush buttons (not sure of the technical terms) inside the tank and now it flushes properly. It seems that the 2 plastic poles the extend from the faux chrome buttons are just a bit too short.
Hope this helps

I had the same problem with mine and I lifted the tank lid off and
extended the rods they are threaded and turned them out a few turns and returned the lid back on and no more holding down the buttons

This worked for me too, although I had to play with the exact length to get it so that I didn't have to hold the buttons down AND the water did not continuously keep flowing in.

Button 1 for pee.Button 2 for poo.If you remove the tank lid you can watch how a dual flush works. When you press button 1 quickly it only empties half the tank. The sound it makes sounds like it didn\'t flush properly and people tend to hold button 1 down longer. When you hold button one down longer it empties the whole tank, which is wrong for just pee.You only need to empty half the tank for pee.No matter which way you push button 2,quickly or longer,it empties the tank either way.Pressing either button quickly is the proper way to flush.

Adjust the float on the Fluid-master a little higher if possible. This should allow more water to enter the bowl after the flush.

REMOVAL OF TOTO AQUIA TOILET

first shut off water and then flush the john. this will remove most of the water. for water remaining in tank us a sponge or similar to remove remaining water. find where toilet bolts to floor and remove these bolts or nuts. then pick whole toilet from floor, there should be a wax ring under toilet, replace wax ring when putting back in. when putting back in just push down on toilet to squish wax ring and bolt to floor, turn on water and check for leaks. good luck

Looking to buy/install Toto Aquia II in my circa 1964 co-op apt.

When you say 10.5 inches from wall, do you mean that from the center of the drain in the floor to the back wall is 10.5 inches? If so, you need a toilet for a "10 inch rough-in" dimension. The Aquia doesn't come in that dimension. Sorry!

Caroma Sydney Smart model 270 comes in a 10 inch rough-in and is a dual flush model. Note that all dual flush toilets are fairly expensive as compared to normal toilets. HOWEVER, genrally speaking, ALL 10 inch rough-in toilets are fairly expensive just because the low volume that are sold.

I purchased a Toto Aquia II Dual Flush Toilet, around a year ago. No problems until now. The toilet won't flush. It doesn't appear to be running at all.

If this is one of those models that most people have, the valve that shuts the incoming water off when the tank is filled is probably bad. It only costs about 8-10 dollars to replace. This valve is actually a stem or tree shaped device.
