Intermittent problems on this type of TV are often because of cracked solder joints on the circuit board. They can be hard to see. When the TV gets warm, parts on the board expand and move by tiny amounts, sometimes with the right amount of expansion or vibration from the speakers, the broken solder joint looses connection and the unit shuts down. When things cool-off, the contact can be made again all by itself and everything fine until it happens again. Given the random nature of your problem, this is a suspected problem. Often it is the solder around the lead of a large component which is mounted to a heatsink.
This is not a software issue but more of a hardware fault - the battery and charging circuit all rechargeable batteries laptop ones get to become useless after x amount of charges. What is the battery condition? Do you get sufficient charge remaining for atleast 1 hour? Or also it may be overheating due to insufficient ventilation.
Check out the motor control board near the floor on the right side. These have a high failure rate on the Neptunes. Maytag redesigned both the motor and motor control board to be more reliable. While inspecting this board, you are looking for a blown 10 amp fuse and /or burnt electronic components. If you have either... then you will need the the new motor conversion kit which includes the new motor, new motor control board and the wire harness. What you describe are signs the motor control board is nearing its end of life...
The kit takes about an hour to install. See www.neptunewaxmotor.com for disassembly photos so you can inspect the motor control board.
