You have to use a wrench behind the disk for a stop and then unscrew from the housing Porter Cable

The first thing to do is to make sure the unit is completely clean. Many of the contaminates that get airborne while you are sanding can and will affect the motor's performance with time. Pay particular attention to the brushes/commutator or any kind of centrifugal switch it may have.

How to change pad?

this is easy done, just follow the steps:

1. disconnect the power cord
2. turn polisher pad up
3, grip firmly randomiser in one hand (that is this bulky bit between pad and polisher)
4. grip pad and rotate it against arrow direction.

if you just need to change the abrasive, these are on hook and loop and you just lift it from the pad and replace with new one.

this action will separate pad from randomiser, if you need to remove randomiser as well, you will need spanner of appriopriate size or adjustable.

The armiture has a winding problem, common in a lot of power tools. Replacing the armiture is not cost affective unless your time put into it is worth it, sorry. I recomend the Dewalt veriable speed, nice professional buffer!

Wobble in disk

if this is disk type grinder make sure you did not knock the disk out of alignment when it fell off table if so remove and re-align or replace disk seen it before make sure

If you are talking about the actual sanding pad itself it should just pull of .If you are talking about the backing pad it should un screw
