I have a canon MP730 and it is connected to my HP computer. I can print a word processed document and any material online onto the MP730. However, I am not able to command the scanner from my HP...

Theres a few things you can do, HP normally makes you install a slew of programs with the driver, see if you can find the program called something like "HP Scan" and try to use that to scan things. If that does that work, reinstall the driver.

if your using windows office, you can open word, go to insert>picture>from scanner

To scan from the platen glass:
1. Click the "Setting" icon on the multipass toolbar
2. Select "Toolbar Settings" tab
3.Under "Image Source", click the "Scan From" drop-down menu and select "Platen"

Scanners scan a document in picture format(JPEG) dot per dot. Their are complete programs out ther that will scan a document and turn it into a text fine. They are far more expensive that just copy a picture of some words on a page, Typical scanner function. I hope I have explained it well.

Canon Multipass MP700

When trying to print color documents or photos using our Canon MultiPASS 700, the photo or document will have stripes all the way through it. It has also developed a problem of having fine lines that do not print when we are printing a black and white document.
