Re-check the lamp door alignment. If the door is not installed properly, the interlock switch will open causing a no start condition. Also observe the red LED on the front panel. When you turn on the TV, a gree LED will blink on and off until the image appears. If the image fails to appear the green LED will give way to a red LED that will flash a specific number of times in between pauses. 3 blinks means the door is not installed correctly. 4 blinks means that a fan has stopped working, etc.

The most common cause of picture disappearing and returning in a Sony LCD Rear Projection TV is a faulty bulb. Replacing the bulb is the first step in troubleshooting this type of problem in KDS-60A2000 and all other Sony Rear Projection LCD TVs. Sony Lamp Gallery shows all Models and Lamps for Sony Rear Projection LCD TVs. KDS-60A2000 uses XL-5200U Lamp.
Hi, 3 times red light blinking indicates that Lamp Cover has not been fixed in its location properly after lamp replacement. Please make sure lamp cover (its first thing that was removed to replace lamp) is installed securely. Thanks.
Check the fan that cools the bulb. It is directly behing the bulb. It should turn on when the power comes on. It apparently has a safety to protect your tv(and home). mine is in the process of going out. looking for online solutions as we speak.
I have a Sony KDS-50A2000 50 in. HDTV Television. I just replace the lamp because I got the message that appeared on the TV. Lamp needs to be repaced. I replace with a Sony lamp and now TV cut off after 2 to 3 hours off watching the TV. Any Idea what is going on with this TV
My Sony KDS 50 A2000 is 17 months old. Its the 50 Inch SXRD projection model. About two weeks ago the screen developed a green tint with cannot be tuned out, then a few days later the message began to appear on the screen that the bulb was nearing the end of its life and must be replaced. Fortunately I have the Circuit City extended warranty. I called and within just a few days a serviceman came out and replaced the projection bulb. The Result: No change in the picture, the green tint remains on all channels, so I'm awating the next service call. Under the service warranty they have the option to repair or replace this set. If indeed this is the light engine (optical block) which I suspect and its going to cost $1,000 or more I may be looking at a new set. When it works this is a great TV, but I have had three Sonys now including two other standard CRT models and now this one joins them in the junk heap, the other two also bit the dust after just about two years. Is it time to give up on Sony? I know they have a class action suit on a similar model for this same problem. Caveat emptor
