SOURCE: space heater will power up, but not start,

These fans have a safey feature (sensor) that shuts the heater off if it is tipped over. It sounds like this component is not functioning correctly - may be set wrong and will not allow the heater to turn on unless you shake it to reset the sensor. If it is still under warranty return heater, if not call Patton and ask for help.

There are a few things that I can think of, your air intake is on the top make sure they are clear. The fan is a little thing, is it running and can you feel the air being pushed out? I count eleven screws on the back of my heater so remove all eleven screws clean air passages and look to see if the over heating sensor is in its mounting or is it hanging free. You can take it apart and clean it, just do not touch the heating elements and make sure you have it unplugged!!

These have poor quality safety parts that fail in about 1 season or less, the failure rate for these little cheaper units is high, go Honeywell next time!

CAN THIS HEATER CAUSE AFIRE AND IS THIS HEATER ON RECALL PATTON PUH680-U

I do not know if this heater is on any product recall but we have used patton heaters for years and pretty much have had good luck with them. However there is a fire hazard present if you set or store combustibles to close to the front.Tip over switches don't always work and I would never recommend using a heater of this type in a unsupervised area.I hope this is of some help to you. Thank you and happy holidays.

Model PT 268 heater doesn't work at all but seems to have voltage

Hi,
Yes it would seem that the thermostat or the knob would be the problem...when checking for voltage you need to check for 220v across the two terminals for the heating element. You will have 120 feeding back and forth all over the place but the fan and element will only work if they have 220... so you can have voltage and it still not work...

Our electric water heater doesn't work.

make sure it is wired correctly, check circuit breaker, check breaker built on to element. If all fails, and it is determined your not getting power to it, you may need a electrician. Be careful. good luck.

Wires are rated to handle a certain amount of amps. Your dryer cord is bigger than your coffee maker cord because your dryer pulls more amps. What is going on with your heater is your heater is drawing more amps than the wire can handle. Therefore the wire is getting hot, melting the insulation. Hopefully it shorts out before it catches on fire!!! BOTH BAD SCENERIOS!!! It is possible your machine is just excessively dirty, therefore working extremely hard, drawing high amps. If you are able to give a good cleaning, do so. Let dry and turn heater on DURING A TIME WHEN YOU CAN MONITOR IT, NOT OVERNIGHT. See if it has made a significant improvement. If not, it's time for a new heater!! Best Wishes!!

When the alarm on the Patton Electric Heater sounds, whay does one do to fix that?

This heater was the determined cause of my total loss house fire. I thought the company would atleast help me find some where else to live, they seem to care. But, as of lately they are doing nothing.
I am told this heater-(prh11- 2008 model- purchased at walmart for about $27.00)
- Had wiring that wasn't up to standards
-1/10,000 units cause fires
-something wrong with the heating element-stops working
- wouldn't stand level
-heating coils
-fires like mine have happened to a few other people
This came directly from a person at Jarden corporation(aka patton-sunbeam)
