I was wondering when upgrading graphics, if this system is compatible with shader 3 or higher video cards
Hey,
If you look at this page you can see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_shader#Hardware_Compatability
PS version (pixel shader version supported / compatible)
so that would be for shader 3 requirement
Ati Radeon x1300 to x1950 cards support it Also!
Nvidia Geforce 6 and newer.
The Radeon hd 3xxx and newer support version 4 (everything 1 2 3 4)
well you can see on the list.
If you want a cheap card with just shader 3 support
get ati radeon x1900 or better
or Nvidia 8 series, nvidia 8600 GT for example.
Do you need a place to buy them from?
in the USA - http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=38&name=Video-Cards-Video-Devices
for example, this one is cheap

But it requires a PCI-E slot on the computer. Looking at your computer you have a agp slot, I think its time to buy a new computer for the newer games.
So to answer your question, yes your system will work with a shader 3 card, if you happen to find one.
agp cards here

you can run it by me before buying.
