If you are using xp click on start , then control panel, then printers and fax, double click and a small window will open showing all of your print jobs. Click on the farthest left item (on mine it says printers) then it comes with an option to cancel all print jobs, click that. I hope this helps. If that first item does not show it click on all of the options at the top till you find the one that says cancel all print jobs.

unplug maqchine from power. take all carts out. wait 5 minutes. connect machine to power. insert carts as demanded. give the right answer if machine asks if the carts are changed. machine will do some cleaning.

do you use generic ink? in that case you might have clogged the printhead with wrong ink. The ph cant be cleaned anymore.

nevertheless try this (carts should be nearly full!):
press menue then start mono (blue copy) then fourtimes arrow up. machine will be in maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4. Machine will display init_all. press start mono. machine will refill tubes and
ph with fresh ink and do some cleaning. after that press 7 then 6 then 3 and start mono. machine will do a powerpurge.
press zero then 9 to do a quality test print. If it cant do the job leave maintenance by pressing 9 then 9. do the test print manually by pressing ink etc.

If you still do not see any colors the ph is clogged and cant be fixed anymore. It has to be replaced.

SOURCE: Brother MFC-420CN color ink empty but want to print/copy in B&W

brother won't print od do anything is one of the 4 inks are empty so first of all you have to replace whatever is empty, when you remove it it will ask you if you changed it and if it is a new one you will press 1 twice per cartridge, if you put compatible ink in you will clog the ink head up and then be stuffed

SOURCE: brother mfc-420cn printer envelope jam

If you did not get ALL the jammed sheet out, there is still a small piece of paper in there somewhere, probably covering a sensor or micro switch. Get a torch and look carefully. If you don't find anything you may need to disassemble the printer to find it

Perform reconnection inspections on the printer. Attempt to printer documents. The computer should diagnose the condostion either as missing programs or malalligned printer ink or paper or compartments not closed appropiately.

Brother 420cn mfc, cant print It asks me to read in the routine maintenance of the trouble shooting guide.

Did you use non-Brother brand ink refills? If so, the print head is probably clogged. If that is the case, it's almost cheaper and easier to replace the printer itself. Sorry. I loved my MFC-210C until it quit, and the internet is full of people complaining about the whole MFC series. Going on 2 trouble free years with my Canon, better print, better optics, wireless, but no fax, unfortunately.

Someone got printer printing the same 300 or so

Assuming you're running Windows, go into the control panel, select printers, select your printer, double click on it and cancel all print jobs.
Possibly, someone wanted 3 copies and hit 300 or, someone's messing around. Look at what is being printed 300 times, and you should be able to figure who ran the print job.

Problem with my fax Machine MFC 420CN

You can cancel a fax job that is stored and waiting in the memory.
1 For MFC-210C,
press Menu/Set, 2, 5.
For MFC-420CN,
press Menu/Set, 2, 6.
Any jobs that are waiting will appear on the LCD.
2 If you have more than one job waiting, press ▲ or ▼ to select the
job you want to cancel.
Press Menu/Set.
—OR—
If you only have one job waiting, go to Step 3.
3 Press 1 to cancel.
To cancel another job go to Step 2.
—OR—
Press 2 to exit without canceling.
4 Press Stop/Exit.

That should do it for clearing faxes you dont need you can also print off all the faxes in the memory and I believe that clears it.
Enjoy,
Lee

Black ink won't print, just the color ink prints. It's a Brother MFC-3240C thanks in advance

You must run a clean cycle after installing a new cartridge.
Try running a clean cycle and see if that relieves the problem. I just had the same problem on a MFC 210C and called Brother. That is what they had me do and now it is working fine.
