Error 42 will show on the stove at odd times......sometimes at 2:00 am, sometimes every other day. No set pattern. It will flash for a few minutes then stop.\ I read on Fixya that an electrolytic capacitor could be going bad. I would like to have the capacitor in hand when I disassemble the stove so that it can be replaced without delay. Can you describe the type of capacitor. Does it have radial or axial terminals? I imagine that it has radial terminals if it fits on a PC board but I'm not sure. I think the article said that it was a 470uF 35 volt capacitor. I should have no trouble changing it as I am an electronic technician. Thanks, Valgator

I believe your ignition switches have come in to contact with either water or moisture.
Please read my below Tip on how to fix the problem:

If it does not solve your problem, I'd suggest replacing the ignition switches.

I understand that you are receiving an "ER" error code on your Frigidaire range and you want to clear the code.
