I have had this 46" GE for about 12 years; great picture and sound. Recently it started having this unusual problem. It will not change channels. I first noticed it while turning on the DVD and you could hear the DVD playing while the tv remained on whatever channel it had been on (from the DISH tuner). While running some tests I noticed that no matter what channel I selected for the TV, ( 7 required for my Zenith VCR/DVD combo) the DISH feed remains on screen. If I entered channel 99, the tv doesn't recognize it and the picture remains on whatever channel the Dish receiver is set for. I have no idea where my manual is, but I think it's a problem with the tv's tuner. It will not allow the DVD/VCR to capture the tv screen. Electronically, it gives indications that the DVD/VCR isn't connected, but physically it is.
Would love to hear from anyone who has experienced this or anything similar to it.

You can obtian the user manual at http://www.thomsonnetwork.com/EN/Public. It is likely that during intital set up you selected iether VCR or cable box. If so unplug the tv for about 5 minutes. Whenit is turned on again you will get the intial setup screen. Select "nl" when asked if you have a VCR or cable box.

I think your TV is made by RCA and it should go to cable channel 125. If Comcast has any channels above 100, you should be able to get them. RCA TV's have a problem with the solder connections inside the tuner. This may be your problem. If this is the case the tuner would have to be taken apart and re soldered. Stargazer

In 1998, UHF-69 was highest channel. you need that TV which has today's technology.
