K-beater attachement is stuck and we can't remove it. Pls help
I couldn't remove the K-Beater as when I tried to turn it the whole mechanism turned with it. I couldn't even remove the splashguard! I was going to take it to the Kenwood factory (a few miles from home) but then I thought I'd give it one more go and this is what I did...
Perhaps someone can suggest how to stop it happening again. I haven't attached anything since but will update this post if I have any other helpful tips.
Thanks! This worked for my Kenwood Major Titanium KM020. I think the gear cog needs to be replaced now, because none of the tools fit anymore. It looks like a ring of metal is smeared on the inside of the tool/gear shaft.
Kenwood Major Titanium KM030 There is an alternative solution to this problem, which would be worth trying first. I found that the nut on the shaft at the top of the beater had become loose and worked it's way up(!) the shaft so that it had effectively bolted itself on to the female end. In other words the gap was less than that required for the k beater to move up in order for it to slip out the slot in the female end. Put a spanner on the nut and (about 13mm) spin it so it moves towards the beater - away from the machine. Simpler than dismantling the whole thing. Cheers Mark
Thank you, Did the job for me.
Have the same problem but what size spammer do I use. I tried all the ones I have at home and non fit. If I can get size I will buy the spanner. Thanks
You will need a 5/16" spanner (wrench) which is equivalent to a 8mm if you are using metric.
Thank you Chris Tim. With your advice, I managed to open and remove the K beater. I removed the lug by using an 8mm spanner and did what you mentioned. I only realised that in fact, i only need to push the K beater up then turn left to have it remove from the machine. Anyway thanks again.

Hiya! have the same problem. I removed the gear cog and dismantled the beater ( i was using the dough mixer) but now i still have the shaft still stuck inside :(. Any ideas besides going to a shop to remove it?
Great answer, helped me immensely. But after getting it off, oiling and replacing I still I couldn't understand why the k-beater was sticking but the whisk wasn't. On closer inspection, the shaft on the whisk was slightly longer. Loosening the nut on the k-beater (it's a locking nut, basically) allows the shaft to be unscrewed a few turns to make it longer. Lock the nut down again and hey presto - back in action!

My dough hook is stuck and will not turn to remove - it only seems to turn the motor
Thanks so much, saved us so much money! Our local Kenwood repair quoted us over $120 to fix what just needed spanners!
Thanks Chris - I had the same problem and your solution worked for me too. When I compare my silicone beater (the one that got stuck) and my stainless steel one (that can be easily removed) I notice that on the silicone beater the spindle with the the T- bar fixer sits lower into the beater, so when fitted into the mixer it's a very tight fit. I might try unscrewing the spindle from the beater a few turns so that it's not quite so snug.
Let me know if that worked for you Edwina
