It seems you are using a print server to connect the printer 1280 to your LAN. Uninstall the printer software and printer server driver. Connect the print server to the network and first re-install the print server driver. Then connect the printer to the print server and install the printer software. Refer user manual for assistance. Bot the print server and printer software should be compatible with your operating system.
Gosh, it depends on what your are printing. Photos take a TON of ink.
Text only pages take a lot less. I would say 200 pages of 'text only' is about right for that HP cartridge...
