Stuck pfister faucet sleeve

'87 lavatory pfister wide faucet drips and the replacement stem inserts into a 3 part sleeve that has a rubber washer in the bottom section. I removed the inner plunger stem easily, but just putting the new stem in , does not stop the drip . There are 3 recessed openings in this third sleeve for delivering the water to the spout, so I gerry-rigged a hook to attempt to loosen and remove the sleeve; but they wouldn't budge;they are stuck in the tap housing. How to remove this inner sleeve, so the washer can be replaced?

  1. stuck pfister faucet sleeve - 2_25_2013_3_58_17_pm.gif

  2. Thanks to Danny Paccho I purchased a wrench to use in removing the sleeve from Geers Plumbing

  3. Then , removed the \'87 Price Pfister faucet housing from the basin by disconnecting the 2 pipes under the basin and removing the top basin nut; inserted the wrench into the top, turning counter-clockwise until it locked (er tightened a bit) and hammered it out ,gently?, to not damage the escutcheon threads , or the basin nut.

SOURCE: How to remove the corroded valve seat housing in my tub faucet

Some seats ae rremovable and some or not Some take a hex(allen) wrench and some take a square (seat removal tool)  Most of us use a seat grinder. (another tool to dress up the seat (Remove material) past the seat damage. You will find any of these tools at any hardware store that sells plumbing parts. If the seats have a square or hex hole remove and replace rather that grind(dress)the seat. All right hand threads meaning turn counter clock wise to remove. Take old seat to the American Standard plmbing supply outlet and then will match it up. Good fix-in to ya.

How to remove stem from valve assembly

These have a lifetime warranty. Call Price Pfister for free parts.
Use your hand or a strap wrench to unscrew the handle assembly. The tower under the handle just screws to the stem down at the counter level.
Here is a link to the parts list.

If you notice right below the handle, there should be a small opening where ,by using an allen wrench you should be able to remove handle giving access to the stem retaining nut ......CAUTION... be sure cutoff valve is turned off(both hot and cold cutoffs.... under lavatory sink before removing..........unscrew retaining nut and remove stem.....hope that helps......

I replaced the cartridge, and O ring on my sink faucet, but there is still a drip, drip. On older faucets the metal valve seat could be replaced with a new seat after removing it with an Allen wrench. Don't...

On the hot and cold valve stems there should also be packing washers that should be checked. They are either made of rubber. they should be checked as well.

How do I remove handle of lavatory faucet to replace cartridge? The faucet is dripping and making a noise

There should be a small hole under each lever handle. Inside the hole is a handle setscrew. Use a 2.5mm hex wrench to loosen, not remove, the setscrew. turn the screw counter clockwise to loosen, and then the handel should just pull straight up and off the faucet. Here is a parts breakdown for the PRICE PFISTER Treviso Wide Lavatory Faucet T49-DK00.

The cold water handle is frozen in place. When I swap out the hot handle with it, it turns fine. How can I, or can I, unfreeze this frozen faucet handle? Model is 048nk00

Can you soak it in a type of penetrating oil to maybe free it up. Once freed up they make a grease for stem's maybe apply some to stem for smooth operation.

Handles are turning backwards.

take off circlip, flip over the ring that fits over the splined shaft. It has flat so it will only go on one way, replace circlip, now reversed.
