SOURCE: i have a jvc av 36980, wont turn on, replaced

Hi, I have same TV with same problem. I replaced capacitor with 1000uF 50v and it worked. I also saw another posting that replaced the SMPS (switch mode power supply) STRF6626 regulator. Radio Shack does not carry it though. I had to order one from an electronics store.

Good Luck....Kim

Check for any loose solder contacts at its main power regulator [SMPS] stage. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

Audio ok, but Video goes from color to black.

the tv turns on fine, but after 5 - 30 min or so, "sometimes MORE " the picture all of a sudden go's black. Sound is ok it is 100% loose contact problem. 1 please check for any connector or print for loose. 2 in signal processor ic there might be loose. remember there is no component failure.
