Hi, There is only one way, and that is to send a letter with the serial number to Sentry and if the info matches who is supposed to own it, they will send you the factory default combo to open it. Good Luck!

You need a locksmith. The handle will only work when the dial is freed up and the combination dialed in correctly. Cheapest idea is a angle grinder on the sides or back.
Most dial safes will need to be done by a safe technician. Try local locksmiths who deal with safes and they should be able to help you out. I figure service call and combo chg or hourly rate. If its a safe you can carry you could avoid the service call. May just be able to bring door only too.
If the door is opened..Then you would need to remove the cover to the lock at the back..You will see a screw on the last wheel of the lock..Move that screw into a different hole on the wheel..Then you can dial the wheels to the lever..Each wheel is a number..This will give you a new combination..My advice to you would be to locate a Safe Tech/Locksmith..Have them do it for you..

Dial Combination Safe Lock vs Digital Electronic Lock with Dye the Safe Guy ... You save about a minute. ... can't get to it, then they're going to have to drill the safe open and its going to cost you somewhere in the $300-$450 ...
LifehackerIn the event you need to break into your own electronic safe, here's how to do it. ...Can't tell you how many times I hear from friends, when the last parent ... you need to bug out and having that paperwork can save you days of frustrations.
You could have the correct combo... but not be using the correct pattern. Here it is.
Turn dial several times to the right to clear it...stop on 0
Turn dial to left (ccw) 3 times past the first number and then stiop on that number the 4th time around.
Turn dial to right 2 times past the second number stop on that number the 5rd time around
Turn dial to left 1 time past the 3rd number and stop on the 2nd time around.
Turn dial to the right until it latches (could be the last number or the drifted number) until it stops
Twist handle and open door.
NOTE:If this fails to open it then its possible (after years of use and w/o service) that the numbers 'drift' from there original spot. You can try to find this out by applying pressure to the handle (which engages the 'fence' inside and rubs it against the wheel pack). While applying light pressure rotate the combo dial and where it locks up should be one of the numbers... check this against your 'correct combo' and see how they match. If it's off then all of them are off. You'll need to determine the 'new' combo by drawing the dial with the numbers use the fence located number (usually the first or last) and then reverse engineer the combination. You may also want to grab a book on safes/ safe-cracking to understand the mechanics if this doesn't make sense. Good luck!
Have a 1310 Sentry Valueguard safe and cannot remember the combination nor can i remember where i put the paper that i once wrote the combination down on....need help!
A good locksmith would tell you all you have to do is line up the notch in the tumbler wheels with the bolt bar. Turn the dial three times to the left and line up the first notch with the bar and note the number. Then turn the dial 2 times to the right to line up the second notch note the number. Then turn the dial left to the last notch note the number and turn the handle to retract the bolts. This will be your sentry safe combination. To dial the safe open see these opening instructions.
To bad you dismantled. Here is the turning sequence: General Turning Sequence Instruction NOTE SAFE MODEL 5054/5055/5059/5080/5081/5084/5111/5190/5195/5575/5700/5702.
Combinations consist of FOUR (4) positions (numbers).
BEFORE YOU START
Before you begin, please clear all settings by turning the dial CLOCKWISE (to the right)
three times. We also recommend to try the procedure with your safe door open first. Then
follow these steps:
TURNING SEQUENCE
1. Start the dial on 0 (zero).
2. Turn the dial to the RIGHT, passing your first combination number FOUR (4)
times and stopping at that number on the fifth time around.
3. Turn the dial to the LEFT, passing your second combination number TWO (2)
times and stopping at that number the third time around.
4. Turn the dial to the RIGHT, passing your third combination number ONE (1) time
and stopping at that number the second time around.
5. Turn the dial to the LEFT, to the last combination number and STOP.
6. Insert the key in the cylinder lock and turn RIGHT to open.
Your safe should now be opened.
I lost the combo to my safe and it is a gardell safe
