Canon PowerShot SD 870 IS Movie playback speed is too fast!

The playback speed is too fast. It's taking pictures fine, I do,nt understand what is going on, pls help, thanks.

    movie play back speed is too fast, even after downlaoding the movie to computer doesnt solve the problem

    Canon SD 870 IS - when I take a video the playback is in fast motion. When I download to computer it still plays in fast motion. How do I change the speed?

    I had the same problem, bailers solved it, but his/her attitude sucks! Thanks for the help though. Most of us high-tech computer savvy people never read the manuals until the last resort!

    Thanks!! That worked for the new video I took, but I guess the ones that were in time lapse can't be fixed now right?

You've got it on Time Lapse video. Turn on, slide to video, press func. set button, toggle to standard instead of time lapse. Maybe next time try your owners manual. Of course you all are probably like my mom and just get a new camera, put in the batteries and start taking pictures. These stupid expensive cameras have too many options and get messed up too easily with the wrong press of the button. Try a simple cheap on next time.

    but is there a way to fix the videos in fast play mode? my 6 yr old had gotten it on the timelapse mode and I didn't notice.

Bailers was right! I wonder if my kid changed that setting. I had assumed it was a codec problem. I made the video more watchable by using VirtualDub to change the frame rate to 1.5.

I accidently deleted a picture. How to recover it back. It is a Canon IXUS 870 IS camera. It uses a SD card.

I have a canon SD 580. When I playback the video clip it's always in fast forward mode and I can't play it normal speed. Any help?
Make sure you are shooting your movies in "Standard" mode. If you have the mode set to something else, especially "Time Lapse", the playback may not match 'natural' motion.

In any case, you can control the speed of the playback. When you first enter the movie playback mode, there should be a movie control bar along the bottom of the LCD. Instead of the "Play" button, select the "Slow Motion Playback" button (single arrow with single bar next to the normal Play button), and control the speed with the left or right arrows on the multi-controller.

Unless your an electronics expert, you run a very high degree (89-100%) of probability that the camera will never work again. If your cameras aren't under warranty, than call the canon north america offices, and explain the problem they will more than likely work with you considering this is a wildly popular problem with this specific model.

This is because of low light and low frame rates in the camera. It records the sound on time but the picture delays. In the camera's video menu, choose a higher frame rate to help this a little. Honestly though, If you want to shoot better video get a video camera.
