Toshiba Laptop with Broken Network Adapter(s).

My laptop will not connect to any wireless internet. I've tried troubleshooting and it tells me I need to plug in an ethernet cable. Through my control panel I have presently found a warning triangle on my network adapter, Realtek RT8187SE wireless LAN PCIE network adapter. It also every once in a while said my Atheros AR8132 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller wasn't working properly too. How would one go about fixing this problem? Is it the cables or possibly something else ?

SOURCE: Laptop shows 'A network cable has been unplugged" every 5 seconds

Try installing the lastest drivers for your onboard ethernet board:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=713723&rpn=PSA70U&modelFilter=A75-S206&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663

Go to this site and choose your operating system and choose LAN. Download the one that is not wireless. Download it and install it.

Once your done installing it see if it works properly. If not then change out your cat 5 cable with a new known working one. If it still doesn't work then look at where the cable connects to the outlet and make sure none of the pins are ben are out ao alignment. If they are then move them back into position.

If after all of this the problem still extists then that means the motherboard would need to be replaced.

Wireless Connectivity problem

You can check the wireless adapter is working properly in device manager: control panel>hardware and sound, under devices and printers, choose 'device manager'. Expand the network adapters menu and find the wifi adapter. Right click on this and click properties. You can see if the device is working properly under the general tab. You can also try updating the driver; from the drivers tab, choose update driver and then choose to search automatically for updated software.
Also, try clearing browsing history and cookies: Go to start>control panel>network and internet, under the internet options heading, choose 'delete browsing history and cookies' restart the browser.

Hi,
you can do a quick troubleshooting on the laptop.
1. used another network cable and check that no pins are broken on the laptop.
2. go to device manager and remove the network adapter and reinstall it.

if this don't work. if you have a wireless router, you can connect to the internet over the wireless network adapter on the laptop.

good luck!!

This is not a problem. Wireless connections sometimes tend to be inconsistent. Try closing the distance between your laptop and the wireless network adapter.

Is this the first time you are trying to connect to your Internet with that Toshiba laptop?

If that is your first time you need to call first your Internet Service Provider and check what can they do for you.

If there is no problem with you Internet Service Provider, try to press the FN+F8 keys these are the toggle keys to enable or disable your Wifi.

When you press those two keys observe the laptop if you will have a message that says Wireless Connection is On or Off. If it is off, try to press those two keys again to turn on the laptop.

I believe your laptop came with a Wireless On/Off switch, check that also if it is on there will be a light indicator for the Wireless Connection. It should be a steady light.

Now, if the wireless connection of your laptop is on and still you can't connect to your wireless connection, try to update the drivers for your Network Adapter.

Here's the link for the latest driver:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=1124513&rpn=PSL2XU&modelFilter=L25-S1194&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663

You need to search for your operating system and choose the Wi-fi on all categories.

You need to save it first on the laptop and after that you will have an option to run it on the laptop. After the installation of new driver try to restart the laptop and try to connect to your Internet.

If that will not work.

You need to contact Toshiba technical support at

Hope this helps. :-)
