It sounds like you have a factory amp in the vehicle. Check behind the radio to see if you have the blue wire from the deck hooked up to anything. You probably do. So take the blue with white stripe wire coming from the deck and hook that up instead of the solid blue wire.
To change the region code on the UV8 you must have a dvd playing and 1. with the remote press setup 2. then enter 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. This gives you access to firmware menu. 3. arrow down to tools "system settings" (you should be able to use the touchscreen) enter on region a menu opens and select "0" to make it region free. You can also go down to the brake bypass menu here to to put in "off" mode so you can see movies while driving.
I have same problem with same uv8 but i use remote to activate am/fm then hit setup on rem.enter 543210 and a new menu came up. ( listening for the beep after each 3 is pressed ) select the hammer in upper left hand corner of screen, select brake bypass to on, then hot the X near bottom os screen. this works for me it should work for you.
