On a USB hard drive when trying to "safely remove hardware"

Can anyone give a true way to determine why this happens... I have gone thru many answers including checking which processes may have a lock on the drive. None seem to have it... Not explorer, not recycle bin (config), not indexing, etc....
It seems to happen more when you have a NTFS hard drive than when you have a FAT32 hard drive.

Please only respond if you know what it is... No guesses the device is scandisk u3. it permoms good for a while and now it cannot be ejected as before.

1st off, is anything transfering? then pull it out. if your using windows, its being retarded as usual.

Message displays when attempting to "safely remove hardware"

You need to go to the Tool Bar, (bottom r/h side), and click on Safely Remove USB hardware. and choose your device and shut it down from here then remove.

You have to close all open files on that drive first - the drive cannot be stopped when there are files open on it.
Try closing all the applications that use files from that disk, and also any windows in which you see the contents of the drive.
Then try safe removal again.

Using the USB cable I connected my HP Simplesave to my Fujitsu laptop and backed up selected files. I disconnected my Simplesave from the laptop and connected via the USB to my home desktop HP tower...

Be sure you close any program that has accessed the drive.

I want to eject Have Cruzer Titanium 2.0 USB memory plugged into computer. No programs or files from it are currently in use. After clicking on Safely Remove hardware, the message Problem Ejecting USB Mass...

Make sure you have all programs and folders closed. Then try stopping usb mass storage, there should be more then one option so try removing the drive itself on the list. If that doesn't work. I myself would probably just restart the computer. Then try again.

Antivrius or another program using it...You just need to stop all servicess on task menager then stop mass strorage device

When you delete a file from your usb hard disk to windows recycle bin a link process is created to windows recycle bin so disabling moving of files to recycle bin will help
