My power cord for my dell lap top broke. I bought a new one (not dell) and it seems that Dell may have it set up so that you can only use Dell power cords (way over priced). Is there anyway around this? Note that my computer battery is dead at this point.
Non-dell power cord wont work?

You can buy a universal cord they will work with your dell.
Take the one you bought back for a refund tell them you want a universal that will work with a dell also take your dell model or the old cord with you.
