Hi all
I have a dell 690
I put my computer into stand by last night came in today and it will not turn on i get 1 and 3 flashing green and the power button flashing yellow, when i try and turn it on.
Took every thing out and tried to start did nothing, air cleaned everything and put it back in nothing. took out bios battery then started.
shut it back down 3 hr later and now back to 1 and 3 flashing green and the power button flashing yellow, when i try and turn it on.
does any one have any idea dell will not help as i have not service number and the shop i brought it from has gone bust:(
I had the same problem (turn 690 off, turn it back on, 1 & 3 and amber blinking and no turn on - turn 690 off, wait at least 8 hours, turn it on and it works). I acquired another working 690 and used its 750 W power supply - my original 750 W supply was bad. I attempted to troubleshoot it. I opened it up and there are two boards inside. There are three or four cables/ connectors linking the two boards. I had to unplug them to continue the process and, in the process, the supply started working and it has not failed since (I have successfully cycled power at least 30 times and, before the fix, it would fail on the first cycle every time). I believe that unplugging then reconnecting these connectors fixed it. I would caution anyone attempting to do this to be very careful but the fix is no cost and not difficult. These boards are packed into the box. Two tyraps need to be cut and replaced in the process. 750 Watts = 1 horsepower.
Your Power Supply has gone bad mate... known problem. You need to swap out the old power supply with a new one or maybe a working one (if you have another system)... the procedure is fairly clearly documented on the Dell Site n no Tags needed for that... :-)
