The drum is hitting the washer frame when the spin cycle starts. I opened the back and one of the shock absorbers is leaking oil. The machine is 10 years old, so I expect problems like that. How do I replace them?

It is most likely out of balance, could be for many reasons.
1 could be too many heavy items such as jeans, towels, etc in one load.
2 could be the machine or floor is unlevel.
3 Could be a balance sensor needs replacing.

michele99, So when you put it on drain, do you here the machine trying to drain the water? After it finishes draining, (you have to wait a few minutes, it should then have a blinking light
on the Finished/Door locked light.

All the things that greendude said plus check the seams inside the drum as if these have even slightly parted it could cause the leak you're describing. Good luck.

You can check the drain or the filter. You will have to pull it out of the space it is now to access it. Items will get stuck in the drain clogging it.
