Err 1 message on Taylor Lithium Elec Scale model 7346

My new scale lights up 0.0 pounds; however, when I step on the scale to weigh, I get an "ERR 1" message. It never shows increasing numbers or my weight.
The troubleshooting guide refers only to an ERR 2 message. Advice much appreciated!

This is a reply I received from Taylor customer support. I have followed this procedure enough times to wear out the original battery and still get the Err 1 message. You may have better luck.

Thank you for your e-mail. The reboot below may clear the error from
your scale. You may need to do this several times to completely reboot
the system. Please let us know if you have any questions or continue to
display the Error.

1. Remove the battery from the scale
2. Set the scale on the floor without the battery in place.
3. Stand on the scale for 10 seconds (still without the battery)
4. Carefully replace the battery without turning the scale on.
5. Using only one foot, tap the scale or apply just enough pressure to
turn on the display. (It should show dashes or zero's) IMMEDIATELY
REMOVE YOUR FOOT.
6. Let the scale turn off
7. Step on the scale for a weight reading

I tried this several times, but it didn't work. I may have more success doing a rain dance during a full moon.

I have the same problem the scale shows 0.0 when I get on it.
I followed the directions above but I was not able to correct the problem.
One bit of information. I had an EE error displayed the last time I weigh myself.
After that I changed the battery and I have the 0.0 error ever since.
I gather that this may be a diagnostic error indicating that there is something wrong with the microcontroller. Who Knows.....

My scale is sensitive to where I stand. If I stand near the readout it can be as much as 5 lbs lower

The taylor lithium electronic scale says 00 and then ERR. there is no ERR2. should i change the batteries? it never said lo.

If you get an "Err" or "Error" message, you will need to step off of the scale, wait a few seconds and then step back onto the scale.

I have a Taylor body fat analyzer and scale model #5563 that keeps showing Err 2. It won't read any weight whatsoever... it just goes stratight to the Error message. Do you know what that means and how I...

From the Taylor Site http://www.taylorusa.com/faq-scales

Here are the basic ERR messages and their meanings:
  • Error 0: Initialization
  • Error 1: Instability (scale is on an uneven surface ex: carpet)
  • Error 2: Unit may have been jarred or unit was overloaded (customer went over the maximum weight capacity)
  • Error 3: Contact error (Feet were not wet for Body fat reading, feet aren’t big enough to reach sensors)
  • Error 4: Body fat is out of range
  • Error 5: Water is out of range
I got an ERR2 message and now the scale doesn’t work. What should I do? The following reset procedure is used when the scale shows an err2, err, 0.0, inaccurate weight, or some other unusual error.
  1. Remove the battery from the scale.
  2. Sit the scale on a hard surface floor.
  3. Step up onto the scale, stand still for about 5 seconds and step off the scale.
  4. Re-install your battery.
  5. Place the scale back on a hard surface floor.
  6. With one foot only, place just enough weight on the scale for the display shows zero’s or dashes. Once you see zeros or dashes remove your foot.
  7. Wait for the scale to turn off again.
  8. Step up onto the scale for a weight.
If the reset is successful, you should receive a weight right away. If you continue to receive one of the error messages above please call our Customer Service department or contact us via email. You can also try the reset procedure a 2nd time. Sometimes the reset procedure will work the second time.

Err 4

Sounds like it wasn't initialized, even though it says Er 4 instead of Er 0... According to my manual, to (re)initialize it and reset it to zero, tap the platform lightly. It should show zeroes running across the display for a second or two, then show all zeroes and turn off. It should be re-initialized...

Error Codes for the 5757 (according to my manual):

Er 0 Initialization error (remedy described above)

Er 1 Instability error (step off the scale, then back on)

Er 2 Overload warning (registering weight beyond the 440 pound max)

Er 3 Contact error (body impedance beyond technical limit - try dampening feet and try again for better contact)

Er 4 Bodyfat error (bodyfat percentage is beyond range - try dampening feet and try again for better contact)

Er 5 Bodywater error (bodywater percentage is beyond range - try dampening feet and try again for better contact)
