SOURCE: GE Prodigy Washing machine making clunking noise

One common problem area is the clutch assembly. The clutch is built on top of the motor, the motor drives the clutch and the clutch assembly drives the rest of the washer. The clutch gets very noisy when parts inside are worn out. The shoes lining that drives the inner drum of the clutch wear off and you will get a metal on metal sound. Clutches often can be rebuilt, but sometimes they are too worn and replacing the whole clutch is the best repair. Please use this link here for clutch replace and repair info. The belt and pump may be the next items to check for noises. How to access the washer. Clutch repair help.

Is there a humming sound? Check you have the hot and cold water supply turned on. Check the water inlet hoses are not kinked.

Whirlpool stylemaster 4217141 REV A Agitator/spin cycle broken upper agitator spins by hand but tub won't spin

open the lid and get a model #, sound like all you need is agit dogs # 80040. then remove top of the agitator, could be a softener dispenser. under that you will find a plastic cap, pull up with needle nose pliers. under that you will find a 7/16 or 1/2 bolt, remove the bolt and the agitator can be lifted off. the agitator can now be split into to pieces, turn the top half over and the assy with the agit dgs will fall out. simply replace and reassemble and DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN BOLT. just snug it up. should be fine.

When in spin cycle sounds like a large bolt is spinning around washer shakes spin cycle really fast scrapeing noise

The scraping noise is the grinding noise from the worn out ball bearings. Replace them. You can open the back cover by removing the screws. To fix new bearings remove the drum wheel & then the bearings. It is purely a mechanical job.

My dryer is squeeking and grinding, but not all the time. What could be wrong? When it first starts, it sounds like it is grinding, but continues to work. After a few minutes, it stops. Then it will start...

One of two issues is going on, or maybe both. The first cause for the grinding noise is going to be the main bearing that is bad, and needs to be replaced. The squeaking is actually coming from the belt. So I would check under the unit and make sure that you do not have any metal shavings under the unit. Then also check the belt

If the noise is just a spinning sound and not a grinding, than you're starter solinoid is probably bad.
You're best bet is to replace the starter. Hope this helps.
