You
can visually widen a walkway by planting a wider section on either side
with low-growing plants, and graduating up to taller plants further
back from the walk. A walkway that has 12" plants running along the
side is going to "feel" narrower than one with low-growing sedum or
groundcover stretching 2 feet beck on either side before blending into
taller plants, which will feel wider. To search for plants to fit the
bill, don't use search words that describe the walkway, but that
describe the size of the plants you want. "Ground cover", "low growing",
"creeping", for example.
