My ipod is showing the apple sign and wont turn on

i have the same problem with both of my ipods adn when i hook them up to just a power sorce like a usb charger they turn on and charge but you have to let them charge for a bit before disconnecting them. ive used a usb wal charger and i also have aq inmotion that charges them too. hopes this helps

1.) Was the computer turned on and booted up?
*The USB ports provide no power under most computers when they are not on.

2.) Does the iPod work when plugged to the cable?
*If so then you more than likely have a faulty battery or port that is not allowing charging.

hi, you should long press the the menu and play button for a reset as show in picture below

try charging it

Hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds to ensure the device is off. Let go.

Hold the home button down, plug in the ipod to the computer, after the screen changes to the itunes plug screen, let go of the home button.

The ipod will now be in recovery mode, and you can attempt to perform a restore within itunes.

If the restore fails, and the ipod screen stays black, this means the battery is dead and must be replaced.

try the reset option
press Enter and Menu at the same time until you see the apple on the screen
if the battery are still low you should try to update the firmware with itunes. if the battery are ok you should be ok but if the problems happen again run a firmware upgrade with itunes

maybe when u insert the usb in the pc u just get it with out ejecting the usb because if not it has virus maybe ur pc is not protected i encouter that problem it did not on and play...

I have the generation one which was developed in 2005 and mine does the same thing. What i do is hold the menu button and center button down at the same time until it resets itself,this should only take nomore than 30 sec. of holding them down at the same time. That should help.
