I want to make network of an analyzer with my computer and thats need code 28 for the installation.
Microsoft Help and Support says that "Code 28 (The drivers for this device are not installed)" appears when the Windows Sound System Compatible Driver for the Windows 2000 operating system is deleted upon the upgrade to Windows XP. It's possible to repair this code.
Click on "Start." On the "Start" menu, click on "Control Panel." In the "Control Panel" folder, click on "Performance and Maintenance." Click on the "System" folder in the "Performance and Maintenance" folder. Click on the tab titled "Hardware." Click on the box that says "Device Manager." Click on "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers." Right-click on the device that prompts Windows XP to display Code 28 (it should be Windows Sound System Compatible Driver, also called the WDM driver). A drop-down menu will appear. Click on "Update" and an Update Wizard will guide you through the installation of a new device driver, which should stop Code 28 from appearing on Windows XP.

You need the Intel Pro 100 driver for XP. Go to the following web link at Intel: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/network/pro100ve and download the driver. Copy it to a flash drive. Put the flash drive into your PC that needs the LAN driver and double-click it to install it.

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).
Install the driver
You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor's Web site.
In the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to install the driver.
If you have the CD or installer of your Network Controller you need to install it or you can provide me the make and the model of your computer so that i can send you the link for the driver.
If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for using Fixya
