It's an old metal mechanical machine, right? It is probably seizing due to old oil that has dried. Here's my method for "unfreezing" old sewing machines. (You won't believe how good it sounds and how nicely it runs after you've give it some TLC!)
Even if not your particular model, basic machine threading is very similar from one to another. Just be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread---and change the needle often.
When mine seizes up turning the wheel often won't help. Sometimes the bobbin thread is tangled, but that's not always the problem. Help!
