How to remove water filter from kenmore elite 52603100

I had the same problem. I coudn't get the knob to turn. I ended up taking the front grill off so I could get a better grip on the knob. Once I did that I still have to put a lot of pressure on the knob to turn it but that did the trick. When I got it turned a quarter turn then it was easy to pull the filter out. Hope this helps!

insert it so it is vertical and then rotate one quarter turn to the right so it is now horizontal nad the line matches the grill on the front of the fridge.

You need to clean out the drain tube it's clogged that's why the water is freezing.Try using hot water and maybe something like pipe cleaners to get what's in there out.Hope this helps. On some models it may be easier to pull out the refrig from the wall and get to the drain from the back.
