The block taht was in the power line of older GPS devices was for traffic only, NOT gps siginal. modern Garmin units have the traffic portion built into the Case of the head unit. GPS reciever is ALWAYS in the case of the head unit.
The store that you purchased the unit from should have replacement chargers. If they don't, any car accessory store that sells GPS units should be able to supply you with a replacement. Failing that you can always order on from the Garmin website:
You can choose your model number from the drop down menu, then type in vehicle power cord for what you are looking for. They will give you a picture and price for the cord. You can then choose how you want them to ship it to you.

The problem lies with the fact that a standard mini usb pin-out has + voltage on pin 1 and ground on pin 5. The navigon is programmed to recognize this as a computer. The navigon charger however has + voltage on pin 4 and ground on pin 5. The reason for navigon doing this as opposed to following the standard pin-out is due to the unit requiring a stronger power supply to charge the battery. USB current output on a computer does not have the capacity to do this. As a consequence, you will have to find a charger that has the right pin-out for this device ( + on pin 4 and - on pin 5 ). The tough thing is, there is no way to tell one from the other, they look identical. However, I have found that chargers with a capacity of 1000 ma or greater are pinned-out like above ( + on pin 4 and - on pin 5 ). Other than using a multimeter to verify the pins, the only thing to do, would be to plug it in and see if it works. Hope this helps.
Any cigarette lighter 12 volt power adapter will work, as long as it fits. Take your unit to Best Buy, Fry's, Walmart, or Circuit City and match the plug that goes into the unit to a new one. The other end will plug into the car lighter socket. Check the gps section of the electronics department. They will have one that works.
