My buddy used it at his house for his ps3... i brought it home in the car, screen up! and set up at home. im using cable with analog coaxal connection. channel scan results are 70 channels, tv is on analog input,cable is new and replacement cable is new, but still no picture...every channel is the same, audio, but black screen..
This television was manufactured in October of 2005 . Now my question is this television set only setup to receive the old Analog signals , or can it be setup to receive the new didgital . when you used the HDMI cable at your friends place, the PS3 display got set to 1080p.
to bring it back to standard definition (red, white, yellow wire), follow these steps.
turn off you TV and PS3
turn on your TV
With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings.
Now you should be able to see your PS3 menu on the TV.

simply unplug--then replug--your HDMI cable. Or also go into the audio setup menu and reapply the "automatic" setting for HDMI to get the sound to work. I don't know if Sony can do anything about this or not in a firmware upgrade, but what it can do is try to simplify the labeling on some of the sound settings.

Please use HDMI cable to connect the PS3 to your computer when you found that it is working with that it. It only shows that your three prong cable is defective as it fails every time. Try with another three prong cable and see the results.
I will still insist you to use HDMI cable which will give you better picture quality and sound.

I use this method to revert from HDMI 1080p to Composite 576p, without having to swap cables and change settings.
it might be because your ps3 is set to display video output higher than the tv is capable of producing. This happened to me when i brought my ps3 home to play on my tv at home. i previously had it set at 1080i output, but my tv at my house was only capable of producing 720p so i got the same problem as you. You can cut the ps3 on, then hold down the on button until you hear a second beep. this will return your video setting to normal (480i) and you can see if you have picture then.
It happened to me too. When you plug in your av cables and are ready to play, follow these steps. With your PS3 off (Red light on), Press and hold the power button on your console. (Do not use the controller to turn it on.) Keep holding the button until you hear a second beep. (it takes about 2 to 3 seconds.) You will notice your screen flickers, then your PS3 will show up on the tv. All you did was reset the PS3 display settings. You can always go back to HDMI or AV cables. Have Fun.
