Have tried that. The mic volume is set to MAX there. But when I click on Control Panel>Speech and then on Adjust. The volume is set very low on the actual device. And its stuck there. I cant manually adjust it.

I think it tries to adjust it to optimal automatically... Problem is, it think the Optimal setting is much lower than it should be. Thanks

Delete the registry files for the devices and then uninstall the driver from device manager and then uninstall the software.

That worked for me.

I had same problem with Yahoo Messenger until I found an option to disable it (Auto mic volume). Go to Preferences -> Calling & Audio and check the "Do not modify my mixer settigs (Advanced)".

I didn't uninstall the registry files, but uninstalling the software from control panel gave a huge boost to the microphone sound, and I can now hear myself in the headphones as I talk, which I couldn't do before.
    The software sucks!

  1. Click on Start.
  2. Go to All Programs.
  3. Highlight Accessories.
  4. Highlight Entertainment.
  5. Click on Volume Control.
  6. Adjust the slider.
That should fix it

The sound card of my emachine E725 is not working

You may want to adjust the mic volume on the settings of your microphone as it would seem skype loves to auto adjust and turn it all the way up to where the mic no longer hears you. So just set it down as far as you can go and then do this each time that skype blasts the volume of your mic.

I have a toshiba equium tryin to set up microphone but no matter which option i use it wont recognize my voice

Using a microphone with computer

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

In Sounds & Audio Devices Properties window locate SOUND PLAYBACK box. Click the VOLUME button. Make sure that there is not a check-mark in the MUTE box against microphone in the list of devices and that the volume slider is at the top of the scale.

Make sure the MUTE ALL box isn't checked before closing the window.

Now click the VOLUME button in the SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls).

NOTE if your microphone is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK. Same applies for Internal mic.

That should be it.

To adjust audio volume generally.

Under VOLUME tab adjust Device Volume as necessary. Also (under Loudpeaker Settings) click Speaker Volume and adjust slider to suit.

You might put a check mark in the box to show the volume control on the Task Bar so you can go straight to it to make adjustments in the future.

I cant get the microphone to work, how do i make it work

OK ...if you have sound on it it means that you have the sound driver installed and it is OK ..
Click double on the speaker icon in the task manager in the right ..(tray ) ..the one where you adjust the volume ...and it will appear a window named volume control..
In this window it is supposed to be present the mic..volume ...if it is ..check not to be muted..and its volume to the max..
If the micis not present in this list it has to be activated..so ..click on the options ...in this window..in the left upper corner..and properties....A list with devices will appear and in this list you have to locate the microphone ..and tick the case to enable it ..and ok ..
after that the mic will be present in the volume control window..and activated..all you have to do is check not to be muted and ..raze the volume ..
if you want ti extra sensitive ..go to options ..and click on the advanced..after that get to the mic volume ..click the advanced under it ..and in the window that opens click the mic.boost ..
low the volume a little not to auto-oscillate too much ..in this point if the mic is functional you will have mic on it ..
after that to be sure it is working make a check for audio in skype or what you use..or in case you are using yahoo messenger you have to open one window..go to actions ..and make a call set-up ..and do not advanced any step untill you see that the mic leds are moving ..and so you are sure the mic is working and the signal received..

Microphone wont work

You do not say what OS you have but you need to check that the webcam mic is set as default.

Vista

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

Configure to your chat program

If you have an earlier OS you may have to access your hardware from your Control Panel

Microphone and headphone problem

Hello,

Usually when you double click the speaker icon in the system tray you'll see the volume settings for all your devices. On microphone there is usually an check box for mic boost. Set those to mic boost. Then check that all the sliders in the volumes are one increment below the top but maximum for Wave. Then set the master volume to a comfortable loudness This you can access by a single click to the speaker icon.

Next, you can go to Control Box, click on Sounds and check the settings for speakers/headphone and also for recording where there is usually a routine for checking the recording settings via your microphone made available to you.

Please do not hesitate to ask me for more information and kindly be specific if you can. I'm here to help and will get back to you in a reasonable period of time.

Hope this fixed your problem and thanks for using Fixya.

Regards,
Worldvet
