There are some password unlock programs but there is another way to do it. On the excel sheet you can't edit certain cells if it is protected. What you need to do is open the protected sheet, go to edit on the menu bar and select all. Then open a new excel worksheet and go to edit again and paste it. Now you have the same exact sheet without the password protection. All you need to do is adjust the visual aspect of the sheet.

Ok - if your question is "What is Excel" - then the answer is that it is a spreadsheet program that allows you the ability to compute data (usually numbers) for example, pulling together a list of hours worked by employees and adding them up automatically. It also can be used to develop sophisticated computational models and I have used it to develop professional services proposal sizing tools using formulas and functions ... which is a good segwey into my other answer.

If your question is "what is a function or formula in Excel" - then the answer is a function or formula in Excel is a collection of mathematical, text, statistical, etc. preprogrammed tools that allows you to manipulate the data you have in your spreadsheet e.g. a SUM() function that adds a series of numbers, and AVERAGE() funtion that computes the average of a series of numbers, etc.

Hello this is Baris,
Can you tell me more about this employee. Are you creating an excel spreadsheet to keep record of his days. Are you just getting the numbers from an outside source like a schedule.

To be able to give you an answer I will assume that you have the info already in the same spreadsheet.

Lets say Column A is the days of the month.
Column B is the information column like the hours that the employee worked. If the month has 31 days this is what you need to do.
Click on the cell B32 and type the formula
=count(B1:B31) and press enter. This will count the number off cells which have a value in it in that month.

If you provide me more info we may come up with a better solution. Hope this helps :)

To calculate the difference in Months use =Month(c,r)-Month(c,r)
To calculate the difference in Months use =(c,r)-(c,r)

c= column, r= row

I have a year planner in excel in which first row consist of month jan,feb.... and in the second row days are there like 1, 2,3..... and on the very first column name of employees is there so my task is to...

There is always multiple solutions, but here is one...

Add a row (that can be hidden later if you want) where you have the full date (01/01/09). For this example it will be row "C." Then use Conditional Formatting with the function:

=weekday(C$2,2)>5.

Can be MTWT etc, and you can set conditional formatting for any cell beginning with "S" into a colour/ variation of your choice.
