Is something leaking? burning?

I refused to accept GE's claim that there was nothing in the system that could create a noxious odor. This website mentioned the compressor fan, and I at last prevailed and convinced GE to send a free replacement fan and Technician. The old fan body smells terrible, as did the styrofoam around it, -;just like the smell in the refrigerator! The replacement has solved the problem for now, unless the new fan fails and leaks lubricant again.
The odors are normal for some new refrigerators,its due to the type of plastic used,let it cool and put coffee inside both compartments or baking soda as these 2 items will remove odors,after the odors gone continue to keep a box of baking soda in each compartment to control all food or plastic odors,this should help remove your odor problem

If it's flooding, it's NOT the drain pan. It's probably the water valve has gotten stuck in the open position. Hope this helps!

You have a freon leak. With this only being 5 years old, iot's probably worth repairing, unless you are just able to buy a new one. I would have a local tech come out and check it before tossing it.
