Make sure that the modem is plugged in to the wireless linksys router. Plug in your desktop to the ethernet port of the router and check if you're able to get online. If you have a cable or dsl connection, make sure that your router is already configured to work with the modem. Your laptop should automatically detect the wireless network. Scan your wireless network by right clicking the wireless network icon and click on view available wireless networks. The default name of the linksys router is linksys. Try to connect and see if you're able to get online.

This is only a problem with the firmware of your modem/router that you need to update it, because a network device like a modem and router that is working fine for severla years and suddenly stop working you just need to update the firmware of it and it should be working fine again, to update the firmware of the modem/router just need to call the manufacturer for that....

Hope that helps.........

I would like to know when it say laptop with built in wireless. Does that mine i already got internet service on it. Or i have to buy USB modem.

Hello Blac,

All the laptops available in market have built in wireless 802.11 b/g/n or 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth® wireless networking. It means that you can access the internet via Wi-Fi or through Wi-Fi hotspots. In wireless connectivity you do not require the wired connection to access the internet. In home you can connect the laptop via wireless connection using the home networking router available in market. The advantage of wireless connection is that you can use the internet in your home anywhere with in 100 meters of range with proper wireless signals. You will require to get the internet connection from the ISP(Internet Service Provider).

I am housesitting and want to connect my wireless laptop to the household internet. There is a D-Link DSL-3001 ADSL Ethernet Modem. There is no wireless available in the home. How do I connect please?

Unless you happen to have a wireless AP or router that you can plug into the modem you will need to pull the ethernet cable that runs from the modem to their computer and plug that into the ethernet jack on your laptop. Even though your laptop is capable of wireless it should still have an ethernet jack available to you.

These would be the only ways to get a connection to your computer.

I hope this helps! If this did help you, please give a thumbs up!

Are you trying to access your laptop (which you leave at home) from another computer away from home?
  • If so, head over to www.logmein.com and sign up for a free account. It's a wonderfully easy way to get remote control of your machine from another location without worrying about the networking.
Are you trying to use your laptop on the road and still have Internet?
  • If so, you will need some method for your laptop to connect to the Internet. If your laptop has a wireless WiFi card you can go to some location that has wireless internet. Many locations (such as hotels, cafes, and coffee houses) have free or paid wireless Internet service.
  • You can also get a Wireless Aircard as your friend said. These are a fee-based service from cell companies such as Verizon or Sprint that give you a card that plugs into your laptop and uses the wireless cell network to give you Internet access.

Zyxel will not connect to my laptop wirelessly

Step 1 - If your laptop contains an ethernet port for a wired connection -- connect it to the router using a wire. Try to use the internet -- if it works we are assured the router to the internet is correct.

Question 1 - Please respond to this with the make and model of your laptop and if you have one the make and model of wireless adapter for use with the computer.

Question 2 - Was this router originally purchased new or used?

Question 3 - Has this router work wirirelessly with any other computer you know about?

Question 4 - Have you configured this router since you got it?

Question 5 - Have you had someone else configure this router since you got it?

Server not found} NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router doesn't connect me to the internet.

Dear Loud Nouises,

Your router must be connected properly to the cable modem. This must be to the wan port on the router.

Next, the router must be set-up accordingly to recognize the modem's internet connections. Please ask for the IP address.. and other relevant informations from your internet provider.

Set -up your computer using the internet connections wizard on each of your respective computer.

This should work fine if all connections were correctly configured.
