Also, I have replaced all the cords. The tv will work fine as long as nothing is plugged in to the tv other than the power plug. The minute I plug anything in, it shuts off.

The trouble is, you are equating no apparent power to a dud power supply when an intelligent switch mode power supply monitors the current drawn by the circuits it supplies and will shut down if the limits are exceeded - this is an important protection against fire caused by an overload. No power might mean a faulty power supply or a fault somewhere, anywhere else.

You could keep replacing boards or you could allow a local repairer to make the repair - they have access to information and test equipment and have the expertise...

Before spend $$ on replacement boards, make sure anything attached to it is powered off. Unplug TV for 5mn to 15min. Plug back in and it should power on. If not leave unplugged overnight before spending on a replacement board. We have to do this 2-3 times per year when someone forgets to turn off auxiliary components (receiver, DVD, cable box, etc) first. It has always come back on.

Why does my t.v. automatically shut off after 15 seconds?

Lets focus on the external portion of the TV set first (95 percent of all TV problems are related to things EXTERNAL To the tv itself) Check the physical CONNECTION of all cables by removing each wire bare or RCA and reinstalling it (Each power cable as well), once you have removed one cable, check it for fraying, and if it is already bare, splice a new fresh connection for it. 5. Check to make sure there are NO OTHER uneeded radios, system nearby. these systems, when powered on, will cause electromagnetic interference and prevent more than just severe tv interference SURGE PROTECTOR Surge protectors account for more than 75 percent of electric faults to stereo equipment. Lets start with your AC Wall outlet. It is standard in america that 220 Volts from out of these outlets. This implies that each device will be using 220 Volts (From within that grid zone). If anything including an alarm clock is plugged into any AC outlet socket in the vicinity of the stereo equipment/TV, it will cause electric outage, and prevent electronics from even turning on! Your TV needs dedicated electric power. If your TV is located in the living room then unplug everything else in the living room. Lets plug the TV set into a Dedicated socket. Check all light switches to ensure that power is on for that outlet. Check the TV cable for Fraying both on the ac wall end and where it plugs into the TV. Check all GFCI outlets to ensure that all red reset buttons are pushed in, check the circuit breakers for proper connection and they are turned on. Now, lets try the TV set without it connected to any cable services, vcr, dvd, stereo system, etc.

I have dots all over my screen. How can I remove the dots?

Try unplugging the TV and leaving it unplugged for 30 minutes..

Then try plugging it back in.. If the dots dont dissapear.

Try shutting it off.. and removing all input cords.. Are the dots still there with no input going into it..?

If not, then the issue is with one of your cords or input devices ( cable box, dvd player , etc)

If the dots are there without anything plugged in. Its an issue with the Tv itself, and will need to be serviced

Your TV output is a pass-thru from the coax cable then. The only solution- turn the volume down, or unplug them.. Or get a cable box. A VCR may work as a temporary cable box, and if you have a remote for it, you should be able to just turn off the audio at any time with a VCR remote. (unless the VCR also has a pass-thru only audio output)

Archos 504 dvr shuts down when I plug it into the tv and there is no sound.

The same thing happens to me. I've noticed that it is on the dvds and vhs recordings (ie, copy protected) that this happens. The other files (downloaded from internet, tv, etc) play fine. I think it has something to do with copy-protection that allows files to be saved to device, but not transmitted out. This allows you to save and view your commercial recordings on the Archos, but not let the program to be sent to a recording device such as a dvd recorder.
