My Acer Aspire One froze, so I had to improperly shut it down, and now, when I turn it on, it dosen't boot. The screen comes up, and the options are "Safe Mode", "Safe Mode with Networking", "Safe Mode with Command Prompt", "Last Known Good Configuration", and "Start Windows Normally". I've tried all of them. When I choose "Start Windows Normaly" or "Last Known Good Configuration", it loads normally. It shows the Windows XP loader, and after that is done, it shows the Acer Aspire One background, but then it just stays there. When I choose any of the safe modes, it just shows a blank screen after it loads. I'm not sure whats wrong.

It appears that the Windows is corrupted on your computer, you can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.
If the above steps are not working then I am sorry to say that it is going for repair as the Hard disk might have corrupted.
Your laptop has been turned off without shutting down. all your laptops registries are probably messed up. the easiest way to do is to reformat your computer or restore it to factory settings. unless you have some important files that you cant afford to lose.

To start the computer in safe mode 1. You should print these instructions before continuing. They will not be available after you shut your computer down in step 2. 2. Click Start and then click Shut Down. 3. In the drop-down list of the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK. 4. As your computer restarts but before Windows launches, press F8. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press F8 when the boot menu appears. 5. Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode option, and then press ENTER. 6. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.
Try tapping F8 when the acer window shows, when it shows the muliboot option, scroll down to "Last Known Good Configuration" and hit enter. If it does not boot normally, you will have to get an external dvd drive and boot off the drive with a windows installation disc to perform a repair.
You may have to boot from a CD and make a repair. Once logged in the CD, choose repair option (Recovery Console), and type these three commands: 1) fixmbr (wait til it finishes) 2) fixboot (wait...) 3) CHKDSK (this will take longer than the previous two. Your laptop may now boot normally. I think your laptop doesn't have an internal CD-ROM so you may use an external USB CD.
If you dont see any green lights and you dont hear any boot up sounds ( hd, fans, etc) try to take out battery and just plug in the AC adapter to a known good power outlet. Make sure your power plug is good too. If you hear boot-up sounds, see green lights but no display then toggle on the "fn" key and or try on an external monitor.
try to boot into safe mode, to do this restart the pc and as it boots hit F8 repeatedly, this will bring a sub menu up and choose safe mode, when in safe mode perform a system restore and take it back a week or so
